Mowbray left with plenty to ponder for Palace trip

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray faces a number of selection worries ahead of tonight’s trip to Crystal Palace.

Left-back Joe Bennett will miss the game after he picked up a one-match ban after two yellows on Saturday against the same opposition, while on-loan Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is ineligible.

Julio Arca will travel with the squad to London after recovering from a foot problem.

Mowbray is also missing centre-back Seb Hines (knee) and could be without illness victim Malaury Martin.

Burnley chief Eddie Howe looks set to ring the changes ahead of tonight’s match against MK Dons.

Howe is set to be without Brian Jensen and Junior Stanislas for the second round tie at Turf Moor. Goalkeeper Jensen limped off after 17 minutes against Peterborough on Saturday with a groin strain, while Stanislas is cup-tied following his recent move from West Ham. Defender Ben Mee (concussion) and midfielder Dean Harvey (stomach) could be in contention to face the League One side.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has confirmed midfielder Stuart Holden will make his first appearance since rupturing knee ligaments in March.

Coyle will be without Ivan Klasnic (suspended) for the game at Villa Park and Dedryck Boyata who is ineligible due to a loan agreement with parent club Manchester City.

Villa boss Alex McLeish will check on the fitness of three of his senior players. Record signing Darrent Bent is nursing a groin problem, while Stephen Warnock and Stiliyan Petrov have hip and ankle injuries respectively.

Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa will return to action after nearly a year out injured at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.

Alan Pardew will still be without new signing Davide Santon, who’s debut is still on hold. Forest are without Paul Anderson (hamstring) and George Boateng (ankle) as well as Chris Cohen after he picked up a knee injury against Derby County on Saturday.

Tony Pulis is set to make changes ahead of his side’s clash with Tottenham, although he has no fresh injury concerns following the 4-0 defeat to Sunderland on Sunday.

For Spurs, William Gallas and Sandro are in line to make their first starts of the season after injury, while goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is set to start as Harry Redknapp rotates his squad.
