National League: North Ferriby look to have screen presence |

STEVE HOUSHAM has urged North Ferriby United to take today's 'chance to show everyone how good we are' ahead of the East Riding village club's first live TV appearance.

The Villagers head to Woking in the National League for a tea-time kick-off that will be shown by BT Sport.

For Ferriby, today’s date in front of the cameras is another sign of the huge strides that the club have taken in recent years and Housham wants his side to do themselves justice.

“We are away from home,” he said. “We have got a chance to express ourselves and enjoy the game. Our standards have been great recently. We have been beaten by moments of class from full-time teams. Being in front of the cameras is a real chance to show everyone how good we are.”

Ferriby’s draw last weekend against Wrexham when most of their fifth-tier peers were without a league fixture due to the FA Cup dumped Guiseley back to the bottom of the table.

Despite that, manager Adam Lockwood retains belief in his players that the drop can be avoided.

“The lads have given me a lot of confidence in the past month or so with different styles of performances,” said the Lions manager ahead of today’s home clash with Torquay United, the club Guiseley beat on the final day of last season to stay up and condemn FC Halifax Town to the drop.

“They have risen to challenges in different games and it is encouraging to see. They have come a long way, long may it continue.

“I want the lads to have standards and maintain those and even though we have had a gap of not playing, it is the same in training as it is on a match-day.

“We have got to be consistent and the standard will hopefully be good enough at the end of the season.”

Danny Holmes could make his debut for York City against Eastleigh following his arrival this week from AFC Fylde as Gary Mills continues to try to rebuild his squad.

The Minstermen are still chasing their first victory under Mills, who took charge a little under four weeks ago.
