Of the trio of White Rose clubs, York City – who were relegated from League Two last season – are the best placed, and they sit 16th, just three points off the drop zone.

North Ferriby United are next in 20th, a point outside the bottom four, while Guiseley are yet to win this campaign and are rock bottom with just two points from 10.

All three clubs need to improve, and quickly, with probably the most pressure on Jackie McNamara’s Minstermen given their recent league status.

It’s not difficult to see where York’s problems are, they are unbeaten at home but have collected just one point on their travels – in the opening day 1-1 draw at Maidstone.

Today, 10th-placed Dover are the visitors to North Yorkshire.

He said: “Forest Green lost 4-3 against them last weekend but they had a lot of chances and it’s important we use space properly and move the ball quickly to cause them problems, while making sure we don’t get caught on the counter attack.”

North Ferriby travel to Dagenham & Redbridge today after a confidence-boosting 1-0 win at Gateshead on Tuesday.

It was their third win in the league since being promoted.

Guiseley, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at Chester on Tuesday when they travel to Maidstone United, who play on a 3G pitch.

Caretaker-boss Adam Lockwood, said: “All we can do is prepare right and take that into consideration and hopefully go there and try to restore a bit of pride.”
