ROTHERHAM UNITED manager Neil Redfearn is confident that patience will prove a virtue in his quest for new signings.

Redfearn has already brought in Manchester City youngster Shay Facey and Tunisian international defender Alyen Belaid from Bulgarian side Levski Sofia so far during the January window and handed a short-term contract to ex-Leeds keeper Alex Cairns, who will act as cover for Lee Camp. He is also seeking to bring in more newcomers to stamp his imprint on the squad.

But as it stands, there have been no major developments, although the Millers chief believes that things will soon fall into place, insisting he is prepared to wait for quality rather than making any panic buys.

Redfearn, who confirmed that No 2 goalkeeper Adam Collin is likely to leave the Millers but did not comment on talk of a move to Aberdeen, said: “We are still on with things. It is a little bit frustrating, but we are in the same position as other clubs.

“But what I don’t want to do is just bring in players for the sake of it. The ones who we have identified that we want to bring in, we are having a little bit of trouble getting over the line.

“But these are the players we want because we feel they are going to make us better and help the lads who are here. We don’t just want to make do.

“We are ‘nearly there’, but I would rather it would take two or three days longer to get the players we want than panic.”

Redfearn confirmed that Farrend Rawson should be back in training on Monday, with Lee Frecklington possibly available for the trip to Cardiff on January 23.

Stephen Kelly, suffering from a medial ligament problem, has had a knee injection with the prognosis not as bad as first feared, with the defender likely to be out for ‘three to four weeks’, Redfearn confirmed.

Leon Best has undergone a groin operation and will be out for an extended spell.
