Scott McManus expects teams coming to The Shay this season to be wary of FC Halifax Town’s stunning home form in 2013-14.

Neil Aspin’s men boasted the second best record on home soil behind champions Luton Town last term, losing just once in 23 games and collecting 54 points.

Halifax also beat Cambridge United in the play-off semi-final first leg before bowing out in the return at the Abbey Stadium.

Ahead of Halifax opening their home campaign tonight with the visit of Southport, who lost 1-0 at The Shay almost a year ago, McManus, who netted Saturday’s winner at Dover, said: “It will be tough, teams know about our home form from last year.

“We are certainly looking to keep that up and teams will be wanting to stop us.”

Simon Ainge will sit out tonight’s game after being sent off in the opening-day win on the south coast.
