Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield Town: Ready to steer Town back on winning track

At Huddersfield Town, the 23-year-old loanee goalkeeper has had a four-game winless run in the Championship.

Parent club Aston Villa, meanwhile, may have had a couple of encouraging results but they remain odds-on to be relegated from the Premier League come the end of the season.

Steer, of course, is desperate for that not to happen and remains hopeful that Villa will get out of trouble. Just as he believes that an upturn in results is just around the corner at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“You have to look at results,” said the goalkeeper, who has 22 appearances to his name for Huddersfield this season in three different loan spells.

“We have not won in a while here at Huddersfield. But I do think we deserved a point or three points in some of those games. But if we perform as we can, then the three points can be ours.”

Town head to the East Midlands today to take on a Forest side unbeaten in 13 games.

With head coach David Wagner’s side having taken just one point from a possible 12 and crashed out of the FA Cup at Reading, a positive result from the City Ground would be a major boost.

Steer added: “Everyone in the changing room knows the way we want to play works. The amount of chances we create is brilliant. We just need to stick a couple more away and being a bit tighter at our end.”

As for parent club Villa, eight points separate Remi Garde’s side and safety despite last week’s timely win over Norwich City.

“I speak to the lads at Villa all the time,” said Steer, who spent time between the posts on loan at Doncaster Rovers in League One last season.

“The last seven games, the performances have picked up massively. Villa can still do it. Anything is possible.”
