Neil Warnock has turned to old favourite Paddy Kenny to add experience to his selection of goalkeepers at Rotherham United, with Kenny signing a deal until the end of the season.

The former Sheffield United goalkeeper has been training with the Millers, and Warnock revealed that coaches had been impressed with the 37-year-old.

“Young Alex Cairns is a good ‘keeper but I think that at this level you need a bit of experience at what is a critical time of the season,” said Warnock.

“Paddy will give us that in abundance.

“Andy Dibble has been really pleased with Paddy; he has looked sharp and brings great experience at this level.”

Friday’s switch to Rotherham is the fifth time Warnock has signed Kenny in his career.

Kenny and Warnock previously worked together at Bury, the Blades, Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United.

Kenny has struggled for action since departing Elland Road. He initially joined Bolton Wanderers before a period at Oldham Athletic on loan. He had two different clubs in 2015, first moving to Ipswich Town before a 13-day spell at Bury. Kenny cancelled his contract due to an ongoing issue with his calf.
