Peterborough v Barnsley: No time for Barnsley to become complacent

MANAGER Danny Wilson says his improving Barnsley side must raise the bar further at London Road this afternoon to continue their mini-revival.

The Reds head south with a spring in their step for perhaps the first time this season after an uplifting derby win over Bradford City at Oakwell, which followed a spirited Johnstone’s Paint Trophy comeback at Oldham and a hard-fought Roses triumph at Rochdale.

Instead of looking over their shoulders, the Reds are suddenly looking the other way, but Wilson has issued a warning ahead of the game with Posh, insisting his side must produce an even better performance than the one against the Bantams if they are to be smiling come 5pm today.

Wilson, who reports no fresh injury problems ahead of the game, said: “I think we have to make sure that every ingredient we put into that game at the weekend is there to be seen again at Peterborough – and more.

“I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way to Bradford, but at this moment in time because of league positions and the way Peterborough are playing, we have got to be even more on our guard against what they can do to us.”

He added: “Consistency won’t be there for the next 15 or 20 games.

“But at least we are making a start and we have had three performances that have been very good for various reasons.

“We had a very solid and disciplined performance at Rochdale, a great comeback at Oldham and then came back from one-nil to produce a good footballing performance against Bradford.

“Different departments seem to be getting a little bit better.”

Wilson has said that Barnsley would be interested in bringing back Chris O’Grady on loan if the forward, who has had limited opportunities at Brighton this term, is made available for transfer.
