Players we put out and ones on the bench took away my nerves, says Bradford City's McCall

MANAGER Stuart McCall last night challenged his Bradford City players to 'fulfil your dreams' by going on to clinch promotion from League One after booking their trip to Wembley.

The Bantams will face Millwall in the play-off final on May 20 with the prize of a place in the Championship at stake.

A goalless draw at Fleetwood Town was enough to take McCall’s men through 1-0 on aggregate and set up a clash that seems certain to attract a bumper crowd to the national stadium.

“We are very fortunate,” said McCall. “A lot of people have dreams in their life, but don’t have the chance to fulfil them.

“To have the chance to go and play at Wembley and be winners there, is something you dream of as a kid.

“They held on to that dream (yesterday) and gave themselves a chance of getting into the Championship. It will be down to what happens on the day, but we will be prepared.”

City’s two meetings with Millwall both finished 1-1 and another tight affair is expected under the Wembley Arch.

McCall added: “My lad asked me before the game if I was nervous. But you only had to look at the players we put out and what’s on the bench and that took away the nerves for me.

“I think the players have let themselves down three times in 50-odd games – even champions have more than that.

“I am so pleased for everyone. The city of Bradford will be buzzing and we have got something to look forward to.

“The other week at the Player of the Year ‘do’, the lads were saying ‘one more song, one more song’. Well now we have got one more game and we will be ready for it.”
