Plenty to build on for promoted Guiseley

Bower said: “You have to take your chances. We cut them to shreds at times, we were unlucky at times, but you have to defend when the chance comes to them.”

Bower believed his side were unlucky not to gain at least a point.

The crucial goal was scored just before half-time when Sahr Kabba was able to get the ball over the line after it was headed across the goal to him from a free-kick.

Before that, it was the visitors who had the better chances. Tom Craddock nearly scored a great goal after a run and shot, which struck the crossbar.

But the home side did create a good chance just before scoring the only goal when a well-worked attack saw the ball fall to Adeyinka, who had to be blocked by Guiseley’s Rob Atkinson.

The second half again saw the away side creating the best chances.

Liam Dickinson, who famously scored against Chorley in the play-off final, was put through on goal but struck his shot past the post.

Right at the end, Guiseley, with a bit more luck, could have grabbed the leveller following a goalmouth scramble but the ball was cleared off the line.

Guiseley will have a good opportunity to get the first point on the board as they face Altrincham at home tomorrow night (7.45pm).
