Blades chief Chris Wilder and Bantams counterpart Stuart McCall are in the running for the monthly managerial gong, with United striker Leon Clarke and City winger Mark Marshall among the nominees for the players’ accolade for last month.

Incredibly, despite seeing his side turn the title race into a procession, Wilder is awaiting his first monthly award of a vintage 2016-17.

The Blades enjoyed an outstanding April, clinching promotion thanks to a win at Northampton in a haul of six straight victories, which saw them score 16 goals and also secure the title and record a century of points for the season.

McCall’s Bradford also caught the eye in April, en route to a haul of 13 points from six matches which helped clinch a play-off place.

Other nominees for the managerial accolade are Fleetwood’s Uwe Rosler - his side meet Bradford in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final on Thursday night - and Scunthorpe’s Graham Alexander.

Blades forward Clarke is in the running for the players’ award after his haul of six goals in six matches in April.
