Powell: Momentum is with Huddersfield

It ensured Town were denied another win bonus, but it maintained their encouraging sequence without seeing their colours lowered, with Powell relatively happy with what he saw - while being adamant that they can take momentum into the weekend clash at Ipswich.

Powell said: “I have got to be happy that the momentum and confidence is there.

“We are a point better off and a place higher and it keeps us going in the right direction.

“The lads are working really hard and full credit to the players because they want to do things right and they are enjoying the run we are on and when you are looking at our last two home games, it is two points a game which is good form.”

Powell says that the impressive Sean Scannell suffered a touch of cramp against the Seagulls, but he is hoping the rejuvenated winger will be fine for this weekend’s long trip to Portman Road after some rest.

Grant Holt, who was ‘in the wars’ from the first minute to the last on Tuesday, should also be okay for the Tractor Boys, according to Powell.

The Town chief added: “I am sure Holty will be okay. He is a bit of a warrior.”

Looking at the game, Powell - while keen to secure a third successive home victory under his watch - felt a draw was about right on the balance of play, with the visitors recording their third successive away draw.

And despite not getting three points, he insisted that frustration was not an issue at all.

Powell said: “I am not frustrated because my team have not lost. It is worse when you lose a game and I was proud of their efforts.

“Of course, you go out to win. But you find different ways to win games and sometimes when you do that, you can lose games.

“We have got to accept that sometimes, it may not go for us over the course of a game.

“But it was a good opening and a very well-worked goal. It would have been nice for us to have held out, but I suppose it ebbed and flowed and they had one or two openings and so did we.

“I suppose 1-1 was fair and square and we know look forward to Ipswich on Saturday.

“It will be a long journey and it is going to be tough and we are going to have to be ready.”
