Rangers target McGregor still a Hull City player

HULL CITY assistant-manager Andy Crosby has rubbished reports that first-choice goalkeeper Allan McGregor was in talks with former club Rangers yesterday - over of a reported return to Ibrox.

Reports north of the border have strongly suggested that the 36-year-old, who spent over ten years with the Gers earlier in his career, is on the verge of agreeing a move to his former club - with some even stating that he was expected for a medical on Thursday ahead of signing a pre-contract.

On the situation with McGregor, who has been offered a new Hull deal with his contract running out this summer, Crosby said: “Contrary to reports, Allan McGregor was not at Rangers yesterday and was not having a medical and has not agreed terms with Rangers.

“Allan was in Hull yesterday (Thursday). There are conversations being had with regard to Allan’s future at the football club. He is in a position where we can leave. Since I have been here he has been fantastic and we want to keep him.

“Things have got to be agreed and we will see how that develops over the next few weeks. The manager had a private conversation with him this (Friday) morning and Allan has said to Nigel (Adkins) that if anything develops he will be the first person to know. Knowing Allan, I have faith in that.

“ All we can do is say to Allan that we want him to be part of things here because he’s a fantastic goalkeeper. We want to keep him and hopefully the conversations will come to a conclusion that Allan is still here next year. He is contracted here still, he’s available for selection, he is fit and available and playing well.”
