The Royals have not won in Berkshire in six matches and were fortunate to claim one point against the dominant Yorkshire club.

The Terriers took the lead early on through striker Nakhi Wells, as the home defence was easily breached, but Reading drew level just three minutes later when Pavel Pogrebnyak slotted in his second penalty in as many matches.

Huddersfield defender Anthony Gerrard was taken to hospital during the game after sustaining a chest injury in the first half.

Town boss Mark Robins said the 28-year-old, the cousin of Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard, was suffering from a “raised heartbeat and breathing difficulties” and had gone to hospital for a precautionary check-up.

Gerrard was replaced at half-time by Murray Wallace.
