Rovers have drawn a blank in their last three league outings, with a fair bit of frustration particularly in their last two away games, which have resulted in limp defeats at Northampton and AFC Wimbledon.

Spotland is their next port of call tonight, a venue which has yielded several notable results for Rovers over many years.

Ferguson said: “All the stats are positive towards us, apart from the main one which is scoring more goals a game. We cannot keep saying we should have done this and could have done that, we need to do it, and the boys have it in them.”

James Coppinger and Jordan Houghton are in line for starts this evening, with the latter set for his first starting appearance in his second Rovers’ loan stint.

Ferguson added: “Houghton is ready to start. He breezed through 90 minutes in the development game last week, and did well again on Saturday.”

Last six games: Rochdale DLLDDL; Doncaster DWLDDL.

Referee: B Toner (Lancashire).

Last time: Rochdale 2 Doncaster 2, April 2, 2016; League One.
