Rotherham United 1 Shrewsbury Town 1: Warrington shines to earn Millers point

ROTHERHAM UNITED started brightly but fell away badly and ended up deadlocked with their League Two promotion rivals.

The home side had the boost of an 11th-minute goal by top scorer Adam Le Fondre but they failed to build on that and Shrewsbury fully deserved something from the game.

The visitors had a let-off when Tom Pope was denied by goalkeeper David Button, only for the ball to drop to Le Fondre, whose first shot was blocked before his follow-up was cleared off the line. But there was no stopping his penalty kick shortly afterwards, when he fired past Button after being brought down by Graham Coughlan.

Rotherham remained in front thanks to goalkeeper Andy Warrington when he turned aside a shot from Dave Hibbert.

However, in the final minute of the half Warrington pushed out a shot from Paul Murray and Steve Leslie netted the loose ball.

Rotherham were grateful to Warrington in the second half when he made excellent saves from Leslie and Hibbert.
