Rotherham United 1 Stevenage 1: Moore rues late equaliser

THE Millers were handed a home draw in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy ahead of today's League Two encounter at the Don Valley Stadium.

Rotherham will entertain Huddersfield Town in the Northern Area quarter-finals in the week commencing November 8 when Sheffield Wednesday will also play hosts to Hartlepool United.

The Millers made several changes to their midweek JP Trophy side but Nick Fenton remained at centre-back in place of Ryan Cresswell, who has been out following a recent family bereavement.

Andy Warrington returned in goal and full-backs Johnny Mullins and Tom Newey were also restored along with top scorer Adam Le Fondre.

Rotherham were dreadful in the opening 45 minutes but amazingly took the lead in the third minute of stoppage time, Nicky Law firing into the roof of the net after being sent down the right channel by Le Fondre.

The Millers improved slightly after the break but it took a couple of fine saves by Warrington from Michael Bostwick and Peter Winn to keep their lead intact going into the final quarter.

John Mousinho, however, stroked home an 82nd-minute equaliser after being teed up by Winn, whose intitial effort at the far post had een blocked by Newey.

The Millers brought on Ryan Taylor and Danny Harrison in the 85th minute as they looked for a winner, Dean Holden having come on earlier for the injured Fenton.

An offside flag denied Holroyd a stoppage time winner for the visitors and the match finished 1-1.

Ronnie Moore said: "The disappointing thing for me was that we dealt with all the balls that were thrown in there because they do throw some balls in there"

"Just disappointed in the one ball that went in, we just slept on it really and they've punished us for it'"

"I thought we defended well, I was unhappy with the midfield, it sticks out like a sore thumb, we need someone who's going to get on the ball when you come under pressure we need someone who's going to get on the ball, take the sting out the game, keep the possession"
