Rotherham United 2 Grimsby Town 1: Moore happy with comeback

MUCH to Rotherham's relief, top scorer Adam Le Fondre showed that their recent long break has not taken any edge off his goal-scoring ability.

After the midweek defeat at home to rock bottom Darlington following a six-game break, Rotherham knew they had to get back on course against second-bottom Grimsby.

Thanks to Le Fondre bagging his 18th and 19th goals of the season, they did so with an easy win – Grimsby's goal coming in the final seconds of stoppage time.

"He's always likely to score although we don't want to become too reliant on Alf," said Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore. "Sometimes after a break, people can take some time to get going but we're just glad Alf has started scoring so quickly after it. The early goal helped us but we won in a stroll really."

Le Fondre struck after eight minutes, finishing off a move between striker Tom Pope and midfielder Micky Cummins, two players Moore had restored to the side.

Cummins was involved in the second goal just before half-time. His header from a corner was blocked on the line and Le Fondre finished off.

A fine save by Nick Colgan denied Le Fondre his hat-trick late on before Grimsby scored late on through Wes Fletcher.
