Rotherham United target additions before loan deadline

ROTHERHAM UNITED manager Paul Warne remains hopeful of adding '˜one or two' additions before Friday's loan deadline.

The Millers continue to be linked with long-time target Richie Towell, with Warne also not ruling out the prospect of further squad players may also still leave the club to get some game time.

Warne said: “I want one, maybe two. The problem is if you get two loans in it then takes me to six loans and I can only have five in a matchday squad which means I have to have a different conversation.

“It changes all of the time, it has changed three times already. It might be the fact that we get a loan and a non-contract one after that, but it would have to be someone pretty special. We need to get another one in, we might be losing one or two.

“If it was unlimited loans I would look for two, another attacking option and one in the middle of the park. It might just be one.”

On the prospect of a return for Newell, he added: “No, I don’t think we can rule it out. We can rule him in as an option, for sure.”

The Millers, who head to Everton in the Carabao Cup tomorrow, report no fresh injuries.

Warne, who is likely to field a side similar to the one who started in the previous round’s win over Wigan Athletic, said: “We have no issues. Everyone has trained apart from (Darren) Potter.

“It was Billy Jones’s first day back (training on Monday) and hopefully he will play some part.

“Newelly (Joe Newell) is struggling a little bit with his groin, but hopefully he will play some part.”
