Barrow 1 Rotherham United 2: Grabban leaves it late for Millers

Rotherham United needed two late goals to see off non-league Barrow and avoid an FA Cup first round shock.

On loan defenders Guy Branston and Jon Harley were both ineligible for the Millers, Tom Newey got a recall. Troy Brown was away on international duty while Ryan Cresswell, Michael Raynes, and Mark Bradley were ruled out by injuries. Brett Williams and Conrad Logan had been granted permission to play by Reading and Leicester City, respectively.

Paul Rutherford (16) gave the hosts a shock lead, while Adam Boyes nearly doubled Barrow’s lead but his effort hit the crossbar.

They were made to pay for that when Lewis Grabban grabbed a late equaliser for Rotherham on 84 minutes.

But the drama wasn’t over as three minutes later Rotherham won a penalty after Paul Smith handled and Grabban stepped up to put the Millers in front and leave the Blue Square Premier side stunned.
