Burton Albion 1 Rotherham United 1: Harrad again strikes the target for Millers against former club

ROTHERHAM United are three points off the play-offs after a hard-fought draw at Burton.

Calvin Zola gave the hosts the lead when he turned in a free-kick from John McGrath at the far post.

Adam Bolder spurned a chance to extend Burton’s lead after the 40th-minute opener – and it proved a costly missed because Rotherham levelled in the 56th minute. Sam Wood drove a low corner low and Harrad was on hand to bundle the ball over the line.

It was former Burton Albion player Harrad’s third goal in as many games.

Burton had a chance to win it near the end but Zola fired into the side-netting after rounding goalkeeper Rhys Taylor, who then kept out a blistering shot from Bolder in stoppage time.

Millers chief Andy Scott claimed: “We didn’t play at the tempo we usually have been at in the first half.

“We possibly got drawn into the way that Burton play. They attempted to slow the game down by playing out from the back. They never managed to do that, however, because we were organised.

“I don’t really think they deserved to be ahead at half-time but we didn’t either because we didn’t create any chances.

“We started being lethargic on the ball and when there was space in front of us we took time to drive into it.”

Scott’s opposite number, former Sheffield United striker Paul Peschisolido, commented: “I feel gutted because it’s a game I felt we could and should have won. It’s a very frustrating time for us right now.”

Scott’s ninth-placed Millers face more mid-table opposition tomorrow night when they travel to 13th-placed Gillingham.
