Rotherham United have signed former Sheffield Wednesday defender Lewis Buxton, subject to a medical and Football League ratification.

The right-back, who can also play central defence, will join the Millers on July 1, on the conclusion of his current contract.

Buxton joins Aidy White and Joe Mattock - another former Owl - at the New York Stadium.

Millers assistant Paul Rayner said: “He’s an experienced defender and proven Championship footballer.

“It’s taken a few weeks to get it over the line but we’re delighted to finally have him on board.”
