Steve Evans beat his former club as Rotherham maintained their fine start to life in League One.
Daniel Nardiello (hamstring) returned to full training on Thursday and started the game as a substitute. Michael O’Connor and Kari Arnason returned from midweek international duty in good health and both started.
But the Millers were trailing after just 15 minutes, when Matt Sadler fired the hosts in front.
Rotherham found a way back into the game before the break as Kieran Agard netted on 36 minutes.
And the Millers eventually took the lead on 76 minutes when winger David Worrall pounced.
“I fancied us to win today,” said Evans.
“When Steve Evans comes to the Broadfield Stadium he usually wins. We thought we were unlucky in the last 20 minutes against Preston last week, but we took it on the chin and worked hard collectively.
“If we had scored in the first 20 minutes it will have helped our goal difference today, but we went behind, it was a bad goal to concede and we’ll need to look at it.
“After that we created a lot of chances, we didn’t stop, got the goal and in the second half we continued to work hard.”
