Evans unhappy with Bowery timescale

The Millers successfully appealed against the decision to dismiss Bowery, red-carded for seemingly kicking out at Boro’s George Friend.

Evans, whose main isuse was with assistant referee Keith Lawson and not referee Mick Russell, was unhappy it took until Tuesday afternoon for the former Aston Villa forward to be cleared, with the Millers facing Reading a few hours later.

He said: “I couldn’t have said any stronger words and with the benefit of hindsight my words were particularly strong about the assistant referee.

“But I don’t discount those words and think they were accurate. It was not a question of his integirty or honesty, just that he was a poor official.

“We find out about Jordan and put him on the bench at Reading, but we didn’t find out until mid-afternoon on Tuesday he had been cleared to play.

“The process is right, I just question how long it takes to make a decision.

“I question why it couldn’t have been made on Monday or why the FA could not have had a commission to meet on Sunday to look at any contentious decisions and perhaps overturn them, saving a need for an appeal.”
