George Hirst, son of Sheffield Wednesday legend, joins Rotherham United
The 21-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday player was one of Paul Warne’s top transfer targets this window and is keen to repay the faith shown in him by the Millers manager.
Hirst, who has also gained experience at Belgian second division side Oud-Heverlee Leuven, made his Premier League debut in July after coming off the bench in the latter stages of the Foxes’ 3-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

Hide AdHe is eager to prove himself at Championship level and feels he has learnt from one of the top flight’s best strikers in fellow Yorkshireman Vardy.
“For me it was brilliant to get a little taste of the Premier League, which is what I had been striving for,” said Hirst, the son of former Wednesday striker David Hirst.
“To go in there and to not learn anything from the likes of Jamie Vardy would be quite arrogant.
“You have just got to look at his record and the goals he has scored, and how he got there is a story in itself.”

Hide AdHirst made 20 appearances last season across Premier League 2 and and the EFL trophy but is excited by the extra fixture load he will be expected to shoulder at Rotherham.
He added: “I can’t wait to get going, there will be a hell of a lot of games. You are looking at Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday which for me as a striker can be perfect.
“Hopefully I can get off to a good start and score some goals and the more the games keep coming the more opportunity it is to score goals.”
