Millers sense need to use patient approach

Steve Evans’s side have lost their last three league matches on home soil, but veteran goalkeeper Warrington feels their efforts have deserved much more.

He said: “It is not alarm bell time. It is not that we are not playing well, it is just that we are not getting the rub of the green at home at the minute.

“Teams are raising their game here. Obviously in pre-season, we were the favourites to get promotion and so other teams see us as a scalp. They are coming to our place with a game plan just to sit back, really.

“Obviously, the New York Stadium is a fantastic ground to play at as well.

“We have got to try and be a bit more patient to get at teams. But it will come; we are playing in the right way and we were unlucky not to come away with anything from the Port Vale game.”

Looking forward to today’s home encounter against Accrington Stanley, he added: “It will be another tough game. But we have got to put the Port Vale game to bed and try and crack on. The good thing about the Christmas period is that the games come thick and fast and it will be good to get back out on the pitch and put it right.

“It was disappointing on Boxing Day because if we had won, we could have gone level on points with Port Vale.

“People are saying they have had a fantastic season, while we have been inconsistent.

“But going into the game, we were only three points behind second place. But we are still in and amongst it and everything is all still to play for.”
