Northampton Town 1 Rotherham United 1: Logan in own goal howler as the Millers find victory elusive

FOR once the boot was on the other foot as Rotherham struck an early goal but the Millers were unable to turn it into their first victory in 10 matches.

Northampton ended their four-match losing streak by hitting back for a draw.

Gareth Evans gave the Millers the lead after just two minutes, when he cut inside and fired past Sam Walker.

Poor distribution by Walker had seen possession given away deep in Northampton’s half. Grabban found Danny Schofield, who lifted a pass up to Revell just outside the area and he nodded down for Evans to run through a wide open defence and score.

Distaster struck for the visitors on 24 minutes when goalkeeper Conrad Logan let Lewis Young’s cross squirm through his hands and into the net for an own goal.

Harley tried to intercept near halfway but could only deflect the ball to Akinfenwa, who sent Young racing up the right.

He got almost to the byline, drove the ball across and Logan got down to intercept only for the ball to spin off his gloves and back towards the net. His dive was in despair because he reached the ball just after it had gone over the line.

In the next minute Rotherham had Raynes stretchered off. He went to make a challenge inside his own half but slipped and immediately clutched his knee.

Luke Foster went on, going into midfield with Taylor dropping into the centre of defence.

After the break, Harley had a shot from 25 yards turned over by Walker and the Millers also saw the ball cleared off the line following a corner.

At the other end, Logan somewhat atoned with a fine save from a header by Akinfenwa.

Foster also had a chance to claim a win but shot wide.
