Lee Frecklington scored twice as Rotherham claimed a 3-3 draw in an entertaining game at Sky Bet League One play-off rivals Preston.

Rotherham raced into a two-goal lead thanks to Frecklington’s seventh-minute strike and an own goal from Tom Clarke four minutes later, but Craig Davies pulled one back eight minutes before the break.

Paul Gallagher pulled Preston level on the hour and Joe Garner completed the turnaround five minutes later, but Frecklington bagged his second a minute from time to ensure the spoils were shared.

Chris Porter struck the only goal from the spot after 87 minutes as Sheffield United stole all three points with a late 1-0 win at Colchester, while Francois Zoko’s fifth-minute goal saw rock-bottom Stevenage overcome Crewe by the same scoreline.

Goals from George Baldock after four minutes and Izale McLeod four minutes before the break gave MK Dons a 2-1 win over Oldham.

Charlie MacDonald’s header in the 57th minute brought Oldham back into the game but it was not enough.

The win took the Dons level on points with eighth-placed Swindon, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Crawley.

Nathan Byrne scored four minutes into the second half for the Robins, but Matt Tubbs’ 80th-minute effort snatched a point for Crawley.

Dan Gardner sparked a four-goal first-half outburst as Chesterfield went two points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two with a 4-1 win over Cheltenham.

The hosts were blown away by four goals in eight first-half minutes, with Gardner opening the floodgates after 22 minutes before Eoin Doyle (23), Oliver Banks (26) and Liam Cooper (29) also netted.

Byron Harrison replied in the 57th minute, but the Spireites were home and hosed by then.

The win took Chesterfield two points clear of second-placed Scunthorpe, who could only draw 1-1 with Bristol Rovers.

Sam Winnall struck after 22 minutes to put the Iron ahead, but Steven Gillespie intervened a minute from the end to deny them all three points.

Burton missed the chance to close to within two points of the promotion places as they drew 1-1 at Torquay.

Burton went ahead when Damien McCrory struck in the 33rd minute, but Elliot Benyon levelled seven minutes later.

And there was a shock for promotion hopefuls Fleetwood as they were hammered 4-0 at home by Plymouth.

Goals either side of half-time from Reuben Reid (22) and Luke Young (47) put the Pilgrims two goals up, before Maxime Blanchard added a third in the 70th minute.

Conor Hourihane scored a fourth goal five minutes from the end for Plymouth, who pulled closer to the play-off spots.

Chris Hackett scored Northampton’s decisive second goal in the 57th minute as his side beat Southend 2-1 to pull themselves off the bottom of the table.

Mathias Kouo-Doumbe had struck after seven minutes but the Cobblers’ first lead lasted only 10 minutes before Michael Timlin equalised.

Late goals from Charlie Sheringham (85) and Kevin Sainte-Luce (88) saw AFC Wimbledon come from behind to claim a 2-1 win at Newport.

Ross Worner’s 65th-minute own goal had put the hosts ahead, but they could not hold on.

A second-half double from Danny Nardiello lifted Bury to a 4-1 win at Mansfield.

After Danny Mayor (25) put Bury ahead, Nardiello netted after 56 minutes and again eight minutes later.

Sam Clucas (71) pulled one back but Jake Carroll responded immediately to restore the three-goal cushion.

Max Kretzschmar scored after 23 minutes to give Wycombe a 1-0 win at Exeter, while Jake Jervis scored in the 48th minute as Portsmouth beat Accrington by the same scoreline.
