Rochdale 1 Rotherham United 2: Late strike by Cameron provides Millers with deserved away victory

COURTNEY Cameron was Rotherham United’s match-winner as they climbed to third in the League Two table.

Substitute Cameron popped up in stoppage time to fire the Millers to three deserved points at Spotland. Steve Evans’s side are now just five points adrift of leaders Gillingham.

The visitors had not started well and found themselves a goal down after just two minutes when Ashley Grimes picked out the top left corner with a sweet strike.

It was the impressive Grimes’s fifth goal in six games and immediately put the Millers on the backfoot.

But Kayode Odejayi leveled with 12 minutes remaining from Cameron’s in-swinging corner.

Then, with the final whistle not far away, Cameron pounced to poke in Alex Revell’s pass to complete a fine comeback.

Referee Stuart Attwell disallowed the visitors what looked likely to be the opening goal when Kari Arnason’s header looked to have crossed the line.

To rub salt into the wound, Grimes then netted from Joe Rafferty’s pin-point cross.

But Odejayi bundled over a scrappy equaliser and there was still life left in the contest for either side to get a win.

Then Cameron covered himself in glory when he bagged the winner with the last kick of the game.

Evans commented: “I thought it was an excellent performance, we kept going and going.

“It was disappointing to concede such an early goal, but we showed so much character to come back and win that one.”
