Rotherham United 0 Bristol Rovers 1: Scott’s Millers fail to capitalise at start of important home run

ROTHERHAM United are six points shy of the play-offs with no games in hand after defeat in the first of four home games out of the next five fixtures.

It left Millers manager Andy Scott to state: “If you don’t do enough to win the game then you always leave yourself open to losing it.

“They came for a point and got three – smash and grab whatever you want to call it. I don’t think we really deserved to win but neither did they.

“It was poor, especially in the first half, each side cancelled the other out and there was never really any danger of a goal going in.

“We came out with more intent after the break and showed what we are about.”

Andy Dorman struck in stoppage time to secure victory for Rovers, striking a low shot from inside the area.

Both teams had struggled to create chances in the first half with the Millers’ Alex Revell firing over and Lewis Grabban shooting wide after collecting Revell’s first-time ball over the top.

Scott had restored Richard Naylor to the heart of the Millers defence in place of Raynes and he had produced a solid challenge as Rovers opened with an early flurry.

They also went close when Zebroski beat the offside trap, got away from Griffiths and, as Mullins challenged, struck a fierce shot into the side netting before Lund hit wide from close range and Anyinsah mis-kicked.

Scott replaced Harrad with Cadogan and the Millers improved, Grabban shooting and heading wide before forcing a good save and seeing Revell hit the follow-up over the bar.

Andy Warrington also made a couple of late saves before finally being beaten.
