The Argentine, recently released by Norwich City, despite having a year left on his deal at Carrow Road, spent a short spell at the AESSEAL New York Stadium last autumn before it was curtailed by a serious heel injury.

Becchio, 31, made just one brief substitute appearance for the Canaries last term.

He has been linked with Championship newcomers MK Dons.

On Becchio, who scored two goals in five appearances for the Millers after joining on the final day of last summer’s transfer window, Evans said: “Players like Luciano are not on our immediate radar.

“Everyone knows I have a fantastic relationship with the lad from his brief time with us, and people know how frustrated we were when he picked up his injury because we were starting to see him blossom.

“We have moved elsewhere now and he isn’t someone that we have spoken to as we look to put together our squad for next season.”
