Rotherham United make Evans approach

Rotherham United are believed to have made an approach for Crawley Town manager Steve Evans as the search for Andy Scott’s successor continues.

Evans admitted yesterday that the managerless Millers had made an approach to Crawley to speak to him.

Evans said: “Crawley Town have made me aware that Rotherham have made an approach.

“I want to get Easter out of the way first and my main focus at the moment is our match at Barnet on Monday.”

Millers chairman Tony Stewart is not expected to make an appointment until the week after next.

The former Boston United manager took Crawley into the Football League last season and is on the verge of a second successive promotion.

Rotherham are out of the promotion picture in League Two but at least have the carrot of a new stadium to move into next season.

Stewart sacked Andy Scott in March after a run of poor results.
