Rotherham United v Leicester City: Logan forced into inactivity

ROTHERHAM United goalkeeper Conrad Logan insists that it is hard to fall out with former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson.

The Swede, now manager of Championship club Leicester City, allowed Logan to leave Leicester this summer and join the Millers on loan.

Under the terms of the deal, he is ineligible for tonight’s Carling Cup first-round tie between the clubs at the Don Valley Stadium.

“It would have been great to play but it will be nice to watch because I’ve an interest in both teams,” he said. “As a League Two side, you want to play against teams in the Championship and ex-Premier League players. It will be a good test for the lads and I am sure they will really enjoy it.”

Logan, 25, has made only one first-team appearance for Leicester since Eriksson’s appointment as manager 10 months ago and was loaned out after the £1m capture of Leeds’s Kasper Schmeichel.

Despite his lack of opportunities at the Walkers Stadium, Logan said: “It’s not one of those situations where you fall out with the manager because he is a nice guy.

“He treats everyone well at the training ground. It doesn’t matter if you’re the laundry lady, the chef, or one of the star players, he speaks to everyone and shakes their hands and asks how you are.

“I don’t think anyone would have a bad word to say about him. He has that respect as soon as he walks into a room because of what he’s done throughout his career, especially managing England.”

Millers will need to upset the odds with Eriksson’s side second favourites to win promotion to the Premier League this season.
