Rotherham United manager Steve Evans paid tribute to striker Alex Revell after his goal proved the winner against Leyton Orient at the New York Stadium.

Revell pounced late on after Moses Odubajo had cancelled out an early strike from Wes Thomas.

“I thought it was a good performance from two good teams,” Evans said.

“The match became really end-to-end, they’ve had a penalty appeal, we’ve had a penalty appeal, they’ve had one off the line, we’ve had one off the line, and in games like that it’s always going to take something special to win it.

“Richie Smallwood did remarkably well in the lead up to the game which you’ll see tonight on the television but Revs has done well.

“We were delighted for him in midweek and were even more delighted when it turned out to be the winner today.

“The big fella has been working extremely hard, as they all have, but we’ll go back on the training ground on Monday and work again.”
