Swindon Town 3 Rotherham 2: Revell continuing to torment Swindon but Millers’ run is halted

MANAGER Andy Scott saw Rotherham United lose their unbeaten record but felt his side deserved at least a point.

Swindon at least continues to hold happy recent memories for Millers newcomer Alex Revell. He scored against them three times last season for Orient and netted both the visitors’ goals here.

The home side had suffered six straight defeats and on 20 minutes Revell put the Millers in front with an excellent headed finish. Swindon were level after 38 minutes, Matt Ritchie’s volley diverted in off Tom Newey.

Twenty minutes after the interval Rotherham were back in front through Revell’s second headed goal from an excellent free-kick by Danny Schofield. But Rotherham were soon down to 10 men when Schofield was shown a second yellow card for a foul.

Swindon quickly levelled when substitute Alan Connell, signed from Grimsby, headed in from a corner with his first touch.

With nine minutes to go Swindon went in front for the first time and again Connell scored, sneaking in to head home Ritchie’s centre.

Swindon were reduced to 10 men when Alberto Comazzi received a second yellow card but it had no effect on the outcome.

Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio has already been sent to the touchline this season and then came last Tuesday’s much publicised spat with Leon Clarke who has been told by his Italian boss that he will not play for the club again.

Di Canio was very animated on the touchline against the Millers and Scott said: “There were all the histrionics on the sidelines, it was like a circus and I didn’t enjoy what was going off.

“Their bench was like a pantomime but we knew that was what we were going to face. “We probably deserved a draw and certainly should have had a penalty at 2-1.
