Torquay United 1 Rotherham United 1: Taylor helps ease trek back home for Millers

RYAN Taylor’s clinical finish enabled Rotherham United to make the long journey back to South Yorkshire with a point.

He crashed home a 73rd-minute leveller after a slip by Torquay defender Chris Robertson. It came after Adam Le Fondre had a spot-kick saved by home goalkeeper Danny Potter.

In the 88th minute Taylor could have won the game, but his low strike slammed back off a post.

Eunan O’Kane put Torquay ahead in the 17th minute after Tom Newey had headed Chris Zebroski’s goalbound shot off the goalline. The ball spun up in the air and O’Kane sped in to score with a controlled sidefoot volley.

Millers goalkeeper Andy Warrington made a spectacular diving save to push Billy Kee’s shot away from the top corner as the home side went in search of a second goal.

It took a brilliant save from Potter keep out Marcus Marshall’s rising rocket from the left-hand side of the Gulls’ penalty area then, with half time approaching, Zebroski again tested Warrington, who was equal to the shot.

Rotherham started the second spell on the front foot but when Marshall broke through down the left, he fired wide.
