Snowfall in Rotherham, with more forecast for later today, was a key factor behind the decision to postpone the fixture.

Following a pitch inspection from the match referee and a conversation with both managers, the decision was taken to call the match off.

A club statement confirmed: "Rotherham United’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Cardiff City at AESSEAL New York Stadium has been postponed.

"Following a pitch inspection by today’s match referee shortly before 2pm and subsequent conversations with both managers, the decision has been taken to call off the game in the interest of player safety.

"A late flurry of snow in South Yorkshire and the forecast for the rest of the day on Saturday were both key factors in the decision to postpone the fixture."

It leaves the Millers with another fixture to squeeze into an already-congested calendar after they had two matches postponed last month for Covid-19-related reasons.
