Rotherham United's Danny Ward refusing to be distracted by transfer talk to Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday

IN-DEMAND Rotherham United forward Danny Ward has stressed that he is keeping firmly focused despite being linked with moves to a number of rival Championship clubs.

Ward’s former club Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday are believed to be two of the second-tier sides monitoring the Millers top-scorer, along with Ipswich Town, Wolves and Derby County.

But reports that Town have made a £1m bid for the striker, out of contract at the end of the season, appear premature with it understood that he is one of a number of striking options currently under consideration.

The West Yorkshire club have also been linked with Union Berlin forward Collin Quaner and American international striker Terrence Boyd, but Barnsley striker Sam Winnall is not thought to be a target.

The Oakwell favourite, whose deal expires in the summer and has not yet agreed fresh terms, is on the radar of Norwich City and neighbours Sheffield Wednesday and has been linked with a £500,000 move – although with no pressing need to cash in with their finances solid, the Reds could still elect to keep hold of the player.

Meanwhile, Ward is said to be relaxed regarding his future at Rotherham, despite a second club understood to have tabled a bid for him this week – after another side made an offer last week.

Relaxed on his future, Ward said: “As long as I am here and putting on a Rotherham shirt, I am giving 100 per cent.”

“I am keeping my mind on the games at the moment and not letting all the rumours flying about effect me.”

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka has revealed that he faces a dilemma over whether to let young defender Dael Fry out on loan again this month after recalling him from his temporary spell at Rotherham due to a lack of game time.

On Fry, whose last appearance for the Millers came in November, Karanka said: “We were expecting him to play more at Rotherham. But to be there without playing; for him and for us it is better to have him here to keep going with his development.

“I think it will be difficult (for him to leave) as there needs to be a club who can offer him to play every single day.”
