Rotherham v Morecambe: Alan Stubbs is aiming for more Millers imports

ALAN STUBBS remains hopeful that Rotherham United will be able to complete some more transfer business this week.

After a hitherto slow summer of recruitment, the Millers made up for lost time by sealing moves for club record buy Jon Taylor, Scott Allan and Kelvin Wilson in a busy build-up to the new season – and are now setting their sights on further deals.

Stubbs said: “We are hopeful that we might conclude some business this week. Whether that is before the (Morecambe) game, only time will tell.

“We still need to bring in competition for some positions in the backline and are still in the market for a striker and I am still looking to bring in another wide player.

“Whenever we bring anybody in, we want to enhance the squad with even more quality.”

Meanwhile, the Millers’ chief has confirmed that he will not be resurrecting his interest in Millwall’s Sheffield-born striker Lee Gregory, with the club having ‘moved on’ after the Lions rebuffed a £1.5m bid last month.

Stubbs added: “I think we have moved on from it, if I am being honest. Everyone knows there was an interest and we made a significant offer, but Millwall have a right to accept or not accept bids and we respect that.”
