Round-Up: Picton pounces to capture a point

Blue Square North: A late fightback gained Harrogate Town a 2-2 draw at Solihull Moors.

Moors dominated the first half and took a 38th-minute lead when Junior English scored after Harrogate failed to clear Sam Adkins's free-kick.

After the break, a revitalised Harrogate took the game to Moors with Gary King heading just over and Joe Maguire and Graeme Armstrong shooting at Jasbir Singh.

A low shot from Adam Cunnington after 75 minutes appeared to give Moors all three points but almost immediately Armstrong gave Harrogate a lifeline from the penalty spot.

Harrogate's impressive Jake Picton struck a late equaliser when he volleyed high into the net.

GUISELEY's game at Droylsden was postponed, leaving Steve Kittrick's men three points and one place behind leaders Nuneaton Town.

Redditch did Guiseley a favour by holding hosts Nuneaton to a 1-1 draw. Guiseley, unbeaten since the turn of the year, have two games in hand on the leaders, but third placed Alfreton Town are a further point adrift, having played four matches fewer than Kittrick's team.

Guiseley travel to Eastbourne Borough in the FA Trophy third round at Priory Lane on Saturday.

Evo-Stik: Two-goal Jamie Vardy helped FC Halifax Town to stretch their leadership of the Premier Division to a formidable 15 points with a 3-0 win at North Ferriby United.

Vardy wasted no time in warning the home side that the Shaymen meant business as he headed in James Dean's cross in the first minute. Lee Gregory then doubled the advantage just before half-time by converting a cross from Scott Phelan.

The best goal arrived when Vardy struck again 11 minutes into the second half, weaving his way through Ferriby's defence before finding the bottom corner. Ferriby had Ben Morley sent off near the end for a second yellow card.

Halifax manager Neil Aspin hailed his side's excellent team performance and praised Ferriby, who earlier in the season won at The Shay. He said: "Ferriby are the best side we have come up against this season."

In the only other Premier Division game to go ahead, Ossett Town gave their hopes of avoiding relegation a big lift with a 4-1 victory at Worksop Town to purge the memory of their 8-1 thrashing by Halifax in their previous outing.

Dave Cyrus opened the scoring for Ossett, who doubled their advantage when Daniel Facey punished an error by goalkeeper Jon Kennedy.

Nathan Kemp made it 3-0 by half-time and, although Chris Bettney replied four minutes into the second half from a free-kick, Phil Sharpe's men put the points beyond Worksop's reach with Kemp's second goal just after the hour.

It was a well-deserved and much-needed victory for Ossett who included new signings Shane Kelsey from Ossett Albion and Grant Daley from Rotherham United.

Ossett Albion surrendered a two-goal lead to share the points with visitors Chorley in Division One North. After a goalless first half, Lee Bennett beat the offside trap to open the scoring for Albion and Michael Senior put Josh Moore through for the second. James Whittam hit back with 13 minutes left and substitute Andy Russell equalised deep into stoppage time.

All other games in the division were postponed apart from Salford City's 3-1 win at AFC Fylde, while Sheffield's home fixture against Grantham Town was among the matches called off in Division One South.

Northern Counties East: Craig Hogg took his goal tally for the season to 21 with a hat-trick but still finished on the losing side as Pickering Town edged out Bridlington Town 5-4 in a thriller.

The winning goal came with seven minutes to go, Tom Adams rifling home to complete his hat-trick.

Adams had started the goal feast in the third minute only for Hogg to equalise. But when Adams struck again and Lyle Hillier put Pickering 3-1 in front, they looked odds-on favourites.

Hogg, however, had other ideas, striking either side of half-time and then Scott Phillips fired Bridlington in front in the 64th minute. Again the game see-sawed, Darren Clough grabbing the equaliser and Adams popping up to have the last word.

Things were more comfortable for Parkgate at Arnold where a goal in each half from William Senior and Keir Hannity earned them all three points and sent them back to the top of the table.

Lee Burgess put Brighouse Town in front after only 30 seconds in the only other Premier Division match to beat the frost but a hat-trick from Liam Wilkin saw Winterton to victory.
