Grant McCann signed Tafazolli on a free transfer from former club Peterborough United last season, but despite making only 19 appearances in the Tigers' relegation campaign, he has been able to stay in the Championship by joining the newly-promoted Chairboys.

The 28-year-old is the third centre-back to leave since relegation, after Angus MacDonald failed to agree a new contract and joined Rotherham United, and Robbie McKenzie was released. Festus Arthur, a 20-year-old who can also play as a holding midfielder, has joined from Stockport County, whilst full-back Josh Emmanuel has joined from Bolton Wanderers.

His new manager, Gareth Ainsworth, described 6ft 5in Tafazolli as “a strong, commanding presence in any defence we’ve faced, and also a real threat from our set-pieces with his height and heading ability.”

Tafazolli, who scored three goals last season, has signed a two-year contract with the League One play-off winners.
