The Tigers and the teenager's representatives have finally reached a successful conclusion after protracted talks over fresh terms for the 19-year-old, with his future now secured in East Yorkshire at his hometown club.

Lewis-Potter has signed a deal until the summer of 2023, with a further year's option in the club's favour,

On his deal, he said: "I’m delighted. It’s taken a while but now I can focus on the games.

"It means everything to me to play for Hull City. It’s my club and I can’t wait to crack on.

"The gaffer has been excellent with me. He’s pushed me to become better and every day I feel like I’m becoming a better player with him.

"It was quite a slow progression for me at first, but this season I’ve kicked on massively and the gaffer has helped me massively with that as well."

Despite the speculation, head coach Grant McCann has consistently stressed that Lewis-Potter wanted to stay at the club and his faith has now been rewarded.

Lewis-Potter made his debut from the bench at the age of just 17 in Hull's FA Cup tie at Millwall two years ago.

He scored his first goal for the club when coming on as a late substitute in the game at Barnsley just under 14 months ago and has kicked on impressively this term.

The young striker has notched seven goals for the Tigers so far in 2020-21.

McCann added: "We’re delighted Keane has signed and committed to the football club.

"He’s a big player for us and it’s great to have him settled now so he can focus on his football.

“We love working with him and it’s time for him to kick on now."
