The game was over as a contest by half-time as the hosts led 3-0 against a Bantams side who had showed signs of promise in recent outings.

Luke Burgess opened the scoring after eight minutes and claimed his second goal of the afternoon in first half stoppage time.

Ian Henderson had scored in-between Burgess's strikes as Salford cruised to victory and left Bradford languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Stuart McCall made three changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Exeter City a week ago. Reece Staunton scored his first Bantams goal in that fixture but was not in the squad at Salford as Ben Richards-Everton was drafted into the back three.

Gareth Evans replaced Callum Cooke in midfield while Austin Samuels was named ahead of Billy Clarke up front.

Salford beat Bradford 2-0 when the sides last met, in what proved to be the final game before the League Two season was curtailed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Burgess opened Salford's account for the afternoon when he gobbled up a rebound after Richard O'Donnell had palmed away an effort from Bruno Andrade.

Henderson doubled the lead on 21 minutes when he drilled the ball into the net from Tom Clarke's knock down.

The game could have had a different complexion at the interval as Samuels came close for the Bantams but saw his effort strike the post.

Things got even worse for Bradford before the break as Burgess added a third from a tight angle.
