Instead, the Terriers manager has revealed that chairman Dean Hoyle has already spoken to the players on the radars of clubs from higher divisions and received reassurances that they have no intention of leaving if offers come in during the January transfer window.

The Town manager said: “It (rival clubs watching his players) is not a concern. Instead, I see it as a massive positive if people are interested in my players. This is because it means they are doing things properly.

“The good thing for me is that no matter what the offer is on the table come January, the owner has already said no player will leave.

“And before making that statement, he sat down with the players concerned and got their feelings and take on the situation.

“What they all said to him was they don’t want to leave, no matter what the club or the division involved. They want to see out the season and, hopefully, help us achieve our goals.

“So, long may the scouts continue to flock to the Galpharm Stadium or wherever we are playing. And long may the players continue to grab the attention because of the way they are playing.”

The Town squad underlining their intent to finish the job of winning promotion regardless of what offers come in at the start of next year is testament to the feel-good factor at the club right now.

Clark added: “Their agents will be talking to them and telling them which clubs are interested. That is how the game works and I am well aware of that because I know how the game works. So for them to say that to the owner is a terrific boost for everyone.”

After two play-off disappointments in a row, Town are looking to clinch automatic promotion this season.

It is a target they are well on course to achieve, the club’s unbeaten start meaning they travel to Glanford Park sitting second in the table.

Oscar Gobern looks to be out for a couple of weeks after spraining an ankle in training last week.
