Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder answers Matt Done's plea to move forward

MATT DONE admits that Chris Wilder's decision to employ him in his accustomed role up front represents music to his ears.

The Sheffield United player was utilised in a left wing-back position for spells last season, but has been told by Wilder that his future is back where he prefers – up front – as the new Blades boss hones his plans for 2016-17.

Done said: “I want to play at the top of the pitch and the gaffer has said that straightaway and it is music to my ears. I can’t wait to get going.

“That is what I was brought to the club to do, and that’s where I play my best football.

“I did a job for the team last year, but football is all about opinions and it was the previous manager’s opinion where to play me.

“So I am not going to say anything about that.

“But of course, I want to play here up front, that is why I came here.

“Before I started playing left-back, my goal ratio was pretty good for the first six months and I scored nine in 15 starts or whatever it was.”
