Defence – Jayden Bogle (Sheffield United): Found the net just after Bristol Rovers had levelled and did his bit as the Blades got the winless money off their backs in 2020-21. A league win quickly followed.

Michal Helik (Barnsley): Another dominant performance from the big Pole, who also showed his penchant for finding the net with a header to put Barnsley on their way in the Cup against Tranmere.

Liam Shaw (Sheffield Wednesday): Enjoying a fine time of it of late and put a thoroughly assured performance at the back to help Wednesday progress at Exeter. A hugely promising talent.

Tom Anderson (Doncaster Rovers): Rovers’ ‘Mr Consistency’ stood tall and was resolute when the bullets were flying at Ewood Park.

Midfield/wing backs – Matt Olosunde (Rotherham United): The best player on the pitch at Goodison Park and crowned a barnstorming display with his first goal in senior football to deservedly draw the Millers level.

Aaron Rowe (Huddersfield Town): Town may be out of the Cup, but Rowe will never forget his brilliant long-range strike against Plymouth Argyle in a youthful Terriers’ line-up.

Greg Docherty (Hull City): Beavered away and was at the heart of everything good for Hull at Sunderland. In encouraging form.
