MATTY DONE, Che Adams and George Long are all set to be handed the chance to impress this evening – as the Blades seek a momentum injection on home soil.

Manager Nigel Adkins was critical of his players’ lack of physical and mental strength in Saturday’s disappointing 2-1 League One reverse at Port Vale – and with back-to-back home games this week, he is not expecting, but demanding, an instant response.

Adkins has confirmed that Long will start, with Done and Adams are also likely to be handed opportunities to shine.

Adkins said: “Matty has been out since pre-season and has fractured his collarbone and came on at the weekend and it’s an opportunity for him.

“Che has been out for a while since the (last) international break with a virus, so it’s a potential opportunity for him to go and start and there’s others as well.

“George will play and he’s been doing really well in training.”

Adkins was again left to bemoan the inconsistencies of his side following a frustrating afternoon in the Potteries.

He said: “As has been proved with this group of players, on any given day, they can do ever so well. But on another given day, the inconsistency comes to find everybody out. Being consistent is something we have got to strive to do. We are very attack-minded. But it is about keeping the ball out of the back of the team and as a team, we are conceding too many goals.”

John Brayford, James Wallace and Flo Cuvelier will all feature for the under-21’s side this afternoon.

Last six games: Sheffield United LLDWDL; Notts County WLWWDL.

Referee: C Boyeson (East Yorkshire).

Last time: Sheffield United 1 Notts County 1; November 28, 2014; League One.
