Chris Wilder - ‘I don’t want Sheffield United to fall off a cliff’

SHEFFIELD UNITED manager Chris Wilder admits that his side have to find answers to their dip in form pretty quickly or run the risk of seeing their outstanding first season back in the Premier League peter out.

The Blades produced another below-par display in going down to their second successive three-goal defeat, losing out 3-0 in comprehensive fashion to Manchester United as their poor form continued following football’s resumption.

Wilder, whose side were on the receiving end of a treble from Anthony Martial, said: “There are a lot of wrongs at the moment in terms of my teams’ performance, individually and collectively. We have got to find an answer from somewhere pretty quickly.

“I don’t want us to fall off the side of the cliff.

“I expect a better performance from the team. People are looking at our defensive record and must be thinking: ‘how the hell have they had only two three-nil defeats.’

“To concede early put us automatically on the back foot and if you keep giving the ball away to those quality players, you are going to get hurt.

“It was an easy night for them and not myself and my football club.”

Editor’s note: first and foremost - and rarely have I written down these words with more sincerity - I hope this finds you well.
