Long produced a fine save from Matt Derbyshire’s shot on the turn to keep the Blades ahead.
Sub Matt Smith grabbed a point in the seventh minute of stoppage time, converting a cross from Jose Baxter.
United remain in third but the draw prevented them climbing above Stevenage into the second automatic promotion spot.

Hide AdManager Danny Wilson said: “It’s not like a defeat but I think it’s very, very disappointing to concede at the time we did. I mean - 97 minutes - you’d think the game would’ve been over before that, but it wasn’t and that’s down to ourselves. We have to play to the whistle and we didn’t do that.
“There’s one ball been hogged into the box, it’s coming down with snow on it and we’ve been flat-footed and we haven’t dealt with it and that’s why we’ve come away with 1-1.”
