Hall not sure what future holds at Leeds

Leeds United winger Ryan Hall believes he was never given a proper chance to impress under manager Brian McDermott.

The 25-year-old was brought to Elland Road by Neil Warnock – an initial loan deal from Southend United was made permanent on January 1 this year – but has struggled to hold down a regular place.

His only appearance in the white of Leeds under Warnock’s replacement McDermott came as an 89th minute substitute on the final day of last season in a 2-1 win at Watford.

McDermott told the winger – who scored 19 goals in 72 league starts for Southend – to go out on loan, and he made his Sheffield United debut on Saturday after joining the Blades on a one-month loan deal.

“I haven’t had a shot under Brian McDermott,” claimed Hall. “He has come in, and I just haven’t had no game-time.

“Warnock brought me in, I played a few games – obviously I didn’t play as much as I expected – then Brian McDermott came in and that was it.

“The manager said to me I was a bit down the pecking order at Leeds. He’s got Ross McCormack in front of me, El-Hadji Diouf who is not playing, so he said ‘I advise you to go out and get some games’.

“A few clubs came in, but I didn’t think it was right, but then Sheffield United came in and I thought yes, I will go here.

“It’s just the size of the club, it’s a massive club and shouldn’t be in the situation it is. I thought I would come here and see if I can do something to help the club.

“If I do well here, something might come of it. Hopefully I get to stay on.”

Asked if he thought he still had a future at Elland Road, Hall responded: “I am not too sure to be honest. All I can do is try to keep playing my football and try to impress.

“For me it’s all about the football. I just want to be playing football in someone’s first team, week-in, week-out. Scoring goals, that’s what I love doing.

“I am here initially for a month, then depends on what the two clubs say. I would gladly stay if they want me to stay.

“It’s a massive club and I want to help get them out of the situation they are in.

“It was a bit disappointing the result. We passed the ball about well, the fans are great, and it was a great atmosphere and hopefully we can start to get some results. We should be at the top of the league the way we play football.”
